Polk County officials nabbed five members of the nomadic thieves who go around the country under the name of “Travelers”. These members of the Travelers specialized in defrauding area senior citizens. Their mode of operation is to target senior citizens offering to do free roof or property inspections. Inevitably they find problems in areas which would be inaccessible to the seniors most commonly the roof. They then give a quote for the repair of the damages and after accepting cash payment proceed to make either no real repairs, or in many situations end up causing more damage to the property. A former nurse from Ormond Beach was arrested by the Florida Department of Law this week. He is being charged with four counts of oxycodone trafficking in the Orlando area. The story starts several months ago when Jeffery Edwards, the suspect, allegedly stole a prescription pad and began using his company credit card to purchase massive amounts of oxycodone. According to Orland law enforcement officials Edwards began is purchases in August and continued through October. During those months he was in possession of up to 30 kilos of oxycodone pills. Suspicious Pharmacist Gives Tip to Law Enforcement He was taking his fraudulent prescriptions to several Volusia County pharmacies. During his purchasing spree he bought approximately 2,500 pills. Most parents worry about their children when they go to college, but very few worry about their children dying. This is the harsh reality that the parents of Robert Champion are now facing since the death of their son in November 2011. Champion was a drum major at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. He died after traumatic injuries he received during a hazing incident. The family is now prepared to sue the school and the bus company that transported their son during the incident. What causes someone to drive the wrong way down a major road? Shaylyn Brady suggests she may have just been a little confused. According to the police report, Brady said she did not know how she ended up on State Road 408 in Orlando, but she did realize she was driving the wrong way. Officer Kristine Rosado, however, thinks it might have been the alcohol she was drinking. Brady was pulled over at around 12:45 in the morning after hitting another car while driving the wrong way down the state road. The car she hit flipped over after hitting a guardrail. There are many ways to transport items on an airplane. Most people use checked luggage or carry on bags. Barrat Eni decided to carry his packages in his digestive system. This might not have been that bad, except that his package was over 800 grams of cocaine. Eni was attempting to board a transatlantic flight to London when a narcotics dog smelled the drugs. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security agents proceeded to search him for drugs. Eni cooperated with the investigators and answered all of their questions. After a pat down and search of his bags they found nothing, but they trusted their dog’s nose, so they asked Eni to do an X-Ray. The X-Ray revealed that Eni had foreign objects inside of his body. Thirty year old Jones is accused of child neglect after abandoning her 1 year old child to have sex. The woman left her child with a security guard at Intown Suites on Lee Road. Jones told the guard she would only be gone for a few minutes, but instead was gone for over six hours. Sheriff reports state that the woman was exchanging sex to pay off a drug debt. Christmas is supposed to be a time of joy, but for the families and friends of Loughery Dorceus and Wildet Olizia it was anything but that. These two young men, age 19 and 28, were the victims of a Christmas double homicide in Orlando on December 25, 2011. Although both may have been murdered by the same person or people, the two victims were not murdered together. Olizia’s body was located first outside of the Murchison Terrace apartments near John Young Parkway. Neighbors heard gunshots that alerted authorities of the murder. Dorceus’s body was located after his family had reported him missing. He was found in Olizia’s car further south on John Young Parkway. Orlando police have named at least four suspects in the double murder. Three of the suspects have already been arrested.
